Love Song

I've heard a few different interpretations of this song, and most of them apply in one way or another. The real meaning is that I've only ever been successful in writing love songs about one specific person. I realized this when other people (people I should be able to write love songs about) ask me to write them something and I'm unable to. It causes some tension in the relationship... The song is about the unhealthy attachment I feel to these love songs because of who they represent - and that's not the person I'm with when I write them. Scandalous!
I’ve walked a long, lonely road From the day you went and left me so cold I’ve been trying to find the time Just to feel a little peace of mind But, it seems I can’t love nothing but a love song So, bury me with my six string when I’m gone You were wondering where I’d been I couldn’t lie to you, baby, no, but, I couldn’t give in Then you told me with tears in your eyes Tonight’s gonna be the last time
Well it seems I can’t love nothing but a love song So, bury me with my six string when I’m gone No, I just can’t love nothing but a love song So, bury me with my six string when I’m gone Well it seems I can’t love nothing but a love song So, bury me with my six string when I’m gone No, I’ll never love nothing but a sad, sad love song So, bury me with my six string when I’m gone
